Fidessa is looking for a Operational Software Engineer. The Global Operational Services Team work on global projects and are based in the UK and US. You will be providing technical analysis and 3rd line support along with helping to build tools and reports to aid the smooth running of Fidessa's operational environment and services. This environment supports a large and demanding global trading community, connecting with the largest equity and derivative exchanges through a global network. Key Requirements: Hold an IT, numerate or business related Degree or equivalent experience Methodical approach to complex problem solving. Ability to work under pressure, proactively utilising contacts to resolve issues. Familiarity with a modern UNIX environment, such as Linux or Solaris. Familiarity with networking including Multicast data. Proficiency in one of the following: TCL, Python, JavaScript or PHP scripting languages. Familiarity with relational database concepts and the software development lifecycle. It would be advantageous to understand the business and practises of Equity trading and how our products support this but full training will be provided Duties and Responsibilities: Understand and become familiar with Fidessa technologies and our operational environment. Write ad-hoc scripts to analyse and summarise logs. 3rd line support for our production and test environments. Work with support, development, hardware and network specialists to identify and solve problems. Recreation of reported issues in our test environment. Raise bug reports and assist development in understanding the issues. Use PHP, SQL and TCL to write scripts or web pages to expand Fidessa's internal monitoring and reporting systems. Design, development, testing and implementation of new operational tools to clarify issues and help identify trends. Fidessa's Trading Support Specialists provide technical and functional support for all incoming customer issues on Fidessa's multi-asset product range. This role focuses on providing strong derivatives support (Exchange Traded Derivatives) to our expanding group of F&O customers.
