JOB DESCRIPTION Overview This job holder will be responsible for all Semiconductors supporting the Tandberg and wider Cisco business Deliverables Primary contact and focal point to the Business Units to address all sourcing and supplier management issues Plays a "sensing" function with the business units on behalf of the greater commodity teams to understand their strategies and roadmaps prior to concept development Acts as an advocate for the Business Units to shape and evolve commodity strategies Ensures business segment strategies and needs are appropriately addressed by the commodity teams Ensures the commodity teams are covering NPI sourcing requirements in a timely manner Ensures new technologies/commodities are planned for and sourced appropriately Integrates productivity plans with Business Unit margin / COGS commits Integrates Value Engineering plans into BU roadmaps Supports the commodity teams by ensuring adherence to the commodity strategies (i.e., no "back-door selling") Performs P&L and margin analysis Works closely with engineering team for all semiconductors Preferably physically co-locates with the R&D teams. The Cisco Telepresence Technology Group is the world leader in video conferencing equipment. It designs and develops the most technologically advanced video conferencing equipment available on the market today. The Telepresence Infrastructure team at Langley focuses on video conferencing network infrastructure utilising DSPs, FPGAs and multicore processors to provide the most powerful systems available. They design and develop the vast majority of their hardware and software in-house to obtain the performance and flexibility required. Working in a design centre of around 120 people the role requires strong system or platform engineering expertise. The successful candidate for this job will be the type of person who thinks nothing of writing a new protocol stack one day and adding functionality to an API the next. Working with a large and complex existing code base is an integral part of this job. You must also be comfortable with a variety of embedded platforms and know how to write cross-platform code. You will be expected to produce and deliver significant features on your own as well as work with colleagues in collaborative tasks. You will be called upon to deliver timing estimates for implementation and assess risks involved.
