This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced litigation manager to join a world class firm. The Case Manager will be expected to initiate and carry out case/project management functions and responsibilities in a pro-active way using acquired knowledge and skills to assist the legal team, clients and other parties as appropriate with all aspects of litigation/investigation matters. Specific tasks will vary according to the project management requirements of each case/project but may include some of the key areas below: Case Management tasks: Attending initial meetings with associates and clients once assigned to the case Ensuring (in consultation with the Paralegal Manager) that there is adequate paralegal assistance as required (including agency paralegals where necessary) and that adequate space/IT is available for the work to be carried out Instructing and supervising other paralegals working on the case to ensure instructions are understood and carried out correctly Gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the documents of the case so that urgent requests for documents can be dealt with efficiently Training/monitoring other members of the team including associates and trainee solicitors Supervising on-going projects to ensure their satisfactory and timely completion Liaising with people of all levels from other internal support departments, clients, Counsel, Judges and Judges' Clerks Providing factual overviews/analysis, status reports and monthly synopses of developments. Considering the use of the Knowledge Centre in document reviews Taking responsibility for co-ordination of the creation of lists of documents, bundles etc in connection with disclosure, interlocutory hearings and trial preparation You will also have a variety of E Discovery Responsibilities and will be the central point of contact for all data collection and database issues. You will be co-ordinating with the client and legal team with regard to the identification and forensic recovery of stored data and the preservation of data. At times you will be liaising with clients to understand IT infrastructure and environments in order to produce a report of investigations. You will also be involved in the ongoing review and updates regarding the technology used and the forensic recovery of stored data as well as liaising with third party specialists regarding document and data analysis issues. Skills and Qualifications Excellent IT skills including an excellent understanding of litigation support databases in general and specifically E Discovery Tools, Global RPM, Relativity, Documatrix. An understanding of the processes involved in finding and recovering data An ability to understand and manipulate various data formats, such as ASCII delimited files. The role does offer some variety with time spent helping the banking, project finance and restructuring team. There will also be a small amount of knowledge management work involved.
