DAC Beachcroft's commercial offering to the health sector ranges from advice on large scale procurements of goods and services and major outsourcing transactions; integrated care and joint working across health and social services, through commissioning contracts to joint ventures, mergers and the exploitation of intellectual property. The team advises on all aspects of NHS commercial activity including: * Commissioning Contracts; * EU and Public procurement; * Primary Care Contracting and Joint Woking with Local Authorities; * Income Generation schemes; * Mergers and Acquisitions; * Joint Ventures/Alternative Business Structures; * NHS Reorganisation and establishment of Clinical Commissioning Groups; * Service Level Agreements; * Supply of Goods and Services; * Outsourcing; * IT (including Connecting for Health); * Intellectual Property licences/transfers and other contractual arrangements; * creation of Foundation Trusts; and * NHS LIFT projects. We also provide advice to private sector healthcare providers. The firm is a member of the OGC legal services panel and all of the NHS legal services frameworks. DAC Beachcroft is committed to working in the health sector and this is a strategically important appointment for the team. Core Responsibilities You'll be working from a London base supporting the partner, associate and wider health commercial national team with realisation of the business plan of the Team focusing on delivery of prompt, first class services to the clients of the firm. You will also work as part of the national Health Commercial Team advising public and private sector bodies, principally in the NHS but also in the private sector. The role involves advising in connection of all aspects of commercial contracting including exercise of powers, related constitutional issues, public procurement including EU Directives and in connection with all types of contracts for the purchase of goods and services. You will be responsible for your own matters, contributing to the management of team functions and activities and development of the team and client relationships, as and when required. It is also important that you play an active role in marketing and developing existing and new clients and the maintenance and development of team quality standards. You will be required to some supervision of more junior solicitors within the team in smaller projects and other contract matters, as well as support more senior team members in the delivery of larger projects and client development. It is crucial to handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols. Key Skills Ideally you will have between 2 - 5 years PQE with relevant experience in acting for health sector clients in the provision of commercial matters. Due to the nature of the role a thorough knowledge of the Health Service would be an advantage. You must have the ability to display a broad relevant commercial knowledge base (including drafting and negotiation). Client interaction is also required therefore you must be able to demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness in dealing with clients' matters. You must understand and adopt the client's commercial perspective rather than an excessively legal approach, whilst displaying an independent thinking style with a focus on generating commercial and compliant solutions to problems on behalf of clients. It goes without saying that you'll be a confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships, undertake client marketing and influence at all levels within client organisations. On an on-going basis you will be change oriented with a positive approach towards the implementation of new initiatives. It is equally important to possess an enthusiastic, confident and collegiate and flexible approach to your work.
