At A Glance Based in Surbiton. We are currently recruiting a Front End Developer for the Specialist Holiday Group sector. SHG is part of TUI Travel PLC Specialist & Activity Sector. Involved in a range of e-commerce projects and activity, the Front End Developer is responsible for producing front-end code to deliver day-to-day web merchandising, content updates and enhancements across the Specialist websites. The web channel is a strategically critical route to market and the Web Sales & Operations teams within each location both play a central role as a driver of business success. What You'll Be Doing 1. Planning & Delivery * Be accountable for time estimates for development work and ensure that work is completed on time. * Manage own workload within a project. * Take a proactive role in identifying and resolving technical and functional errors across all sites * Escalate any requirements that become undeliverable due to changes in scope, resource or cost parameters 2. Developments * Take requirements from within the business for new or changing functionality on the site. * Translate Photoshop designs, producing highly usable, standards compliant and progressively enhanced XHTML/CSS templates and pages. * Work on day-to-day updates to the sites that involve simple graphics work and changes to existing code, taking a steer from the existing site design. * Deliver of on-site promotions, online marketing campaigns and merchandising. * Implement non-geographic published content (e.g. Sales Centre phone numbers, booking T&Cs) * Support the Sales Centre and Trade teams in answering day to day web queries * Support the UX team in developing the front-end for large-scale projects and site redesigns. * Adhere to department standards on code, environment configuration management, project lifecycle, and release procedures. * Ensure developments work across all supported browsers. * Work closely with the Online Marketing ream to ensure all relevant SEO, PPC and analytics requirements are built in from day one. * Maintain a highly organised level of working standard - adhering to our working practices and helping us to develop them to become more efficient and effective. 3. Benchmarking * Regularly monitor developments in E-Commerce, web interactivity and competitor websites and recommend enhancements to TUI Travel's Web Platform * Build your own knowledge of latest web technologies and user centred design through online and offline reading, attending events and sharing knowledge with the other web teams around the business * Transfer knowledge across brands and initiatives.
