Position: Media Lawyer The Company: Headquartered in the UK and owner/operator of four cable movie networks located in the USA, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Turkey, the Company encounters the widest range of legal issues inside and outside the UK. It is expanding rapidly and must increase the size of its legal team. Job Description: An executive role for a UK-qualified solicitor responsible for legal advice and decision-making on the wide range of daily legal issues encountered by the Company. The position requires a solid foundation in UK media and commercial law and the ability to work effectively with international counsel in each of the markets in which the Company operates. This position will augment the efforts of our long-time legal consultant who is available in the office on a limited weekly basis. The successful applicant should have the equivalent of 3-5 years post qualification experience of broadcast TV and digital distribution. They will have qualified with a top level firm of solicitors and ideally will have spent time as a member of an in-house legal team with a leading entertainment brand. Our UK Investment Funds Team is a full-service practice providing specialist, technically astute and pragmatic legal advice on all aspects of the investment funds and asset management worlds. The team, which sits within our Corporate group, now seeks to recruit an additional funds/asset management lawyer with 4 or more years' relevant experience. The team enjoys considerable senior backing within the firm and expects to expand rapidly in the coming years, both as a result of referrals from our unrivalled local UK and global networks (in particular from the US), and from the team's own network of contacts and ever growing reputation. The team covers the full range of investment fund and asset management work, including: * fund structuring and formation (working closely with our innovative tax team); * asset management advice, including the establishment of new management houses, all contractual arrangements, remuneration structures and constitutional matters; * UK regulatory advice; * investor advisory and fund review work for some of the UK's largest institutions. In terms of sector coverage, the team deals on a regular basis with all parts of the alternative asset management universe, including real estate, private equity and hedge structures, as well subsets or related types of those sectors, such as infrastructure and film funds, listed funds and REITs. Although based within the corporate group, the team provides cross-departmental support to the real estate, finance, regulatory and mainstream corporate/private equity groups, and works with our international offices on a day to day basis. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, good technical abilities and have acquired quality experience at a firm known for asset management work. An entrepreneurial approach is very much encouraged at all levels within the team so candidates will need to demonstrate an aptitude for business development. Experience of leading matters and building client relationships will be a definite advantage.
