The department The IT department provides a reliable and efficient service based on leading-edge applications and systems to help ensure the ongoing and continued success of our business. The team comprises:- Head of IT, Managers x4, Development x17, Technical x8, Support x12, Analysis x4. Core responsibilities DAC Beachcroft is recruiting for a number of Graduate Technical Developers to join our IT function which provides specialist support to our international firm. This is a unique opportunity to develop your career in IT and to work alongside our in-house experts. Key responsibilities include: * Liaising with both technical and non-technical professionals to develop leading edge case management systems based on Microsoft Technologies and the Visual Files platform. * Developing and enhancing core applications using Solcase and Visual Files. technologies, but supported with up-to-date Microsoft systems such as ASP.net with c# on framework 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0. * Integrate diverse systems built on different platforms. * Supporting live software systems. * Documentation of all systems. Key skills * A degree in Information Technology or a directly related subject is essential. * Ability to work on multiple projects and see them through from conception to completion. * Evidence of experience using a number of programming languages such as C#, SQL, ASP.net. * Ability to learn new programming languages quickly. * Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work on own as well as a team player. * Any legal industry exposure would be an advantage. The department Central Projects is a project management and change team, managing and delivering cross functional projects for the firm to assist with the implementation of the strategy. This provides a centralise dedicated resource to deal with increasing demand for this discipline. The department Our Management Information team provide a reporting service to both internal and external clients of the firm. The demand for MI reporting has grown considerably due to an increase in the number of new clients, growth in new areas of the firm and a growing awareness of the capabilities of the MI team with regards to management information. Core responsibilities This is a challenging and demanding MI Analyst position and will include a combination of client facing, technical and 'business as usual' responsibilities: 1. Client facing * Client facing to the business managing clients expectations, recording and documenting requirements. * Interfacing with the business around new projects and technologies. * Translation of operational terminology to technical specifications (and visa versa). * Developing new reports in accordance with client requirements as well as identifying areas where value can be added. * Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that requirements are gathered/understood and delivered against agreed targets/deadlines. 2. Essential skills/experience: * IT literate with advanced SQL SQL Server 2005/2008. * Ability to write complex queries involving different sources of data. * Educated to degree level with relevant experience or extensive MI experience gained from previous roles. * Excellent verbal and written client multi-level communication skills. * Problem solving and consulting skills, with the ability to work from vague requirements. * Strong analytical skills, able to think laterally to identify trends and make links between data from different sources. * Ability to work on simultaneous projects whilst consistently delivering a high quality service to multiple clients. * An effective team player, who can work in collaboration with colleagues to achieve common objectives. * A commercial approach to work with a good understanding of business drivers (profit & loss etc.) and service standards. * Able to move forward successfully with projects even when business priorities change. * Solutions orientated. 2.
