SABMiller is one of the world's leading brewers, with a turnover of over $25bn (FTSE 20), EBITA of approximately $4bn and a headcount of approx. people. The company has doubled in size twice in the last ten years through an aggressive acquisition strategy, and more consolidation is expected in the industry, in which SABMiller has been a leader. The business is organised in seven divisions: US, Latin America, Europe, South Africa, Africa, Asia and Corporate. In these divisions, there are varying combinations of businesses that we manage directly, joint ventures and associate companies. Each of these regions has a chief executive as well as, currently, a CIO that reports to the CFO in that region. Within each region, there is a Managing Director for each country, the majority of which are stand-alone entities with responsibility for all business disciplines including IT in each country. In addition to this country structure, there is also a small regional hub office IT function with differing responsibilities across the various hubs. There are 15 mostly country-based SAP instances in the Group, while in Africa and Asia there are 11 instances of Syspro. There are over 1000 people in the IT function in total with a spend of approximately $300m. Over the past 2 years we have embarked on a process of consolidating and rationalising our technology platforms across the globe - at the heart of which is the deployment of SAP across three of our major regions (Latam, Europe, SAB Ltd). As result of the intent to shift from region/country based systems and vendors to global services and global vendors, we have begun to review and define the required shape of the IS organisation needed to plan, develop and operate IS services on a global basis. The role described below lies at the core of the Strategy and Architecture function within the emerging global IS organisation - a function that will be delivered progressively over time (next 3 years) in line with the deployment of the global systems solution. Key Purpose Statement The Regional Technology Architects report to the Global IS Technology Architect and focus on a specific region within SABMiller. This role is focused on the Europe region The purpose of the Regional Technology Architect role is to manage the effort to ensure that common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across the regional businesses and IS in order to support the business and IS strategy globally. They will also research, analyse, design, propose, and deliver IS architecture solutions that are appropriate for the regional business and IS strategies in one or more technologies. Regional Technology Architects will work with the appropriate regional business and IS stakeholders, to support the design of a technical structure based on appropriate standards and processes at the Global IS level, ensuring that they meet the strategic needs of the business and integrate with other business and IS Processes. The Technology Architect leads the effort to provide integrated systems analysis and recommends appropriate hardware, software, and communication links required to support regional IS goals and strategy.
