SABMiller is one of the world's leading brewers, with a turnover of over $25bn (FTSE 20), EBITA of approximately $4bn and a headcount of approx. people. The company has doubled in size twice in the last ten years through an aggressive acquisition strategy, and more consolidation is expected in the industry, in which SABMiller has been a leader. The business is organised in seven divisions: US, Latin America, Europe, South Africa, Africa, Asia and Corporate. In these divisions, there are varying combinations of businesses that we manage directly, joint ventures and associate companies. Each of these regions has a chief executive as well as, currently, a CIO that reports to the CFO in that region. Within each region, there is a Managing Director for each country, the majority of which are stand-alone entities with responsibility for all business disciplines including IT in each country. In addition to this country structure, there is also a small regional hub office IT function with differing responsibilities across the various hubs. There are 15 mostly country-based SAP instances in the Group, while in Africa and Asia there are 11 instances of Syspro. There are over 1000 people in the IT function in total with a spend of approximately $300m. Over the past 2 years we have embarked on a process of consolidating and rationalising our technology platforms across the globe - at the heart of which is the deployment of SAP across three of our major regions (Latam, Europe, SAB Ltd). As result of the intent to shift from region/country based systems and vendors to global services and global vendors, we have begun to review and define the required shape of the IS organisation needed to plan, develop and operate IS services on a global basis. The role described below lies at the core of the Strategy and Architecture function within the emerging global IS organisation - a function that will be delivered progressively over time (next 3 years) in line with the deployment of the global systems solution. Key Purpose Statement The Regional Technology Architects report to the Global IS Technology Architect and focus on a specific region within SABMiller. This role is focused on the Europe region The purpose of the Regional Technology Architect role is to manage the effort to ensure that common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across the regional businesses and IS in order to support the business and IS strategy globally. They will also research, analyse, design, propose, and deliver IS architecture solutions that are appropriate for the regional business and IS strategies in one or more technologies. Regional Technology Architects will work with the appropriate regional business and IS stakeholders, to support the design of a technical structure based on appropriate standards and processes at the Global IS level, ensuring that they meet the strategic needs of the business and integrate with other business and IS Processes. The Technology Architect leads the effort to provide integrated systems analysis and recommends appropriate hardware, software, and communication links required to support regional IS goals and strategy. Outputs and Accountabilities Strategy and Alignment Lead contribution to the definition of conceptual and logical technical architecture specifications for the IS region Lead contribution to the definition of global architecture standards that are aligned with business goals, IS strategy and architecture visions Ensure that architecture decisions are consistent and leverage opportunities for common approaches Develops the business case for future regional infrastructure requirements Tracks and manages business benefits delivered by strategic infrastructure architecture Communication/Collaboration Serve as the S&A touchpoint for regional external requests and queries, and provide education on technology architecture directions and goals Lead the regional management of organisational impacts of architectural decisions and implementation Lead regional architectural efforts, utilising cross-functional knowledge (strategy, change management and business process management) Provide regional architecture direction and guidance to solution architects and technical staff Architecture Development Lead effort to analyse IS industry and market trends and determine potential impact upon SABMiller Lead effort to identify and analyse regional business drivers to derive business, information, technical, and solution architecture requirements Develop regional architecture approach for all layers of a solution where appropriate Lead effort to work with the business users, enterprise architect and application developers to develop the overall technology architecture Assist in the development of architectural best practices and standards Provide leadership and technical guidance to Architects Architecture Implementation Lead effort to ensure implementation of the regional architecture approach for all layers of a solution Lead effort to ensure that enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures are enacted uniformly across regional technical development projects and programs Review the deliverables throughout the development cycle to ensure quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and standards Architecture Analysis and Consultation Lead effort to review and provide input on regional proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, and consistency Assess and recommend infrastructure and technical solutions for upgrades to meet business needs Architecture Support Develop strong knowledge base in particular technical domain Lead effort to support lines of business, support staff and technology areas who are implementing projects that impact infrastructure architecture Knowledge and Experience Required Experience leading and directing technology enterprise architecture at the global level Experience in business architecture, consultative stakeholder management and strategic planning Experience of working in a multi-vendor IT sourcing environment (preferred) Deep knowledge of technology enterprise architecture best practice and governance Experience of working in large scale technology led change programmes Experience of working with SAP, with detailed knowledge of SAP architecture and requirements Experience leading innovation through architectural design strategy Strategic planning capabilities (approaches and processes, tools, deliverables) and ability to understand industry trends, competitor or future competitor's strategies and product roadmaps Understanding of the technology architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices Advanced understanding of IT industry trends and enterprise standards and methodology, TOGAF proficiency is essential Experience in issue resolution Deep technical knowledge.
